Does this work on any PDF, or only ones from this site's own tools?

Any PDF with real fillable form fields works -- whether it was filled in using this site's Sign PDF or Fillable Forms tools, Adobe Acrobat, or a browser's built-in PDF viewer. If a PDF has no fillable fields at all, there's nothing here to flatten.

Can I undo a flatten if I make a mistake?

Not from the flattened copy itself -- flattening is one-way. Keep your original, still-editable file until you're sure the flattened version is exactly what you want to send.

No -- this specifically flattens fillable form field values (text fields, checkboxes, signature fields). Other annotation types like highlights, sticky notes, or comments stay as separate, still-editable annotations in the output, not locked in place by this tool.
